Aurora University's Human Resource Institute presents: Developing a Strong Internship Program

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, nearly 52% of interns in 2015 were converted into full-time hires at the end of their internships. This is great news for students, but also for employers. Developing a strong internship program can be a great way to recruit, train, and develop candidates for full-time positions within your organization.

Join us for a morning of professional development, networking, and idea-sharing as Tory Nair, Director of Career Services at Aurora University, and Terri Hoehne, Career Success Counselor at Aurora University; discuss ways to develop, maintain, and expand an internship program at your organization.

Topics that will be covered are:
    • How to start a new internship program
    • Costs and benefits to developing an intern program
    • Length of internships
    • Paid vs. unpaid internships
    • Credit vs. no-credit internships
    • Illinois Cooperative Work Study program
    • What to expect (and not expect) out of an intern
    • Expectations for supervision
    • Aurora University's internship process/program
    • How to recruit interns
This is a free event. Please RSVP below. A continental breakfast will be served courtesy of Aurora University's Center for Adult and Graduate Studies.

    About Our Presenters:

Tory Nair has been the Director of Career Services at Aurora University since January 2014, and has been in the career services field since 2006.  As the Director, Tory works with employers and community organizations to create opportunities for students to build their networks, apply classroom learning to the "real life" context, and "discover what matters."  She is a firm believer that giving the students the opportunity to talk to someone or try something in their field of interest will give them the confidence to pursue their passions.

Terri Hoehne has been part of Aurora University since January 2000. In May, 2012, she moved from her role as Director of Human Resources to the newly created role of Career Success Counselor in Career Services. In this role, she works with students, helping them explore what major may be the right choice for them, what they can do with that major, and assisting them in developing skills necessary to be successful in their chosen careers.
