PAWS Chicago is dedicated to building No Kill communities–starting with a No Kill Chicago– where all healthy and treatable pets are saved. Since our founding in 1997, the number of homeless dogs and cats killed annually in Chicago has dropped 77 percent. But with nearly 10,000 homeless pets still dying in our city each year, there is more important work to be done. PAWS perform more than 18,000 free and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to decrease the number of animals that end up in shelters and in danger of being euthanized. PAWS also finds new loving families for nearly 6,000 homeless animals each year through our two adoption centers as well as numerous off-site events.
